The Name of God in the Holy Scriptures: Acts of the Apostles
And Peter and John were going up at the same time to the temple, at the hour of the prayer, the ninth hour, and a certain man, being lame from the womb of his mother, was being carried, whom they were laying every day at the gate of the temple, called Beautiful, to ask a kindness from those entering into the temple, who, having seen Peter and John about to go into the temple, was begging to receive a kindness. And Peter, having looked steadfastly toward him with John, said, 'Look toward us;' and he was giving heed to them, looking to receive something from them; and Peter said, 'Silver and gold I have none, but what I have, that I give to thee; in the Name of Jesus Christ of Nazareth, rise up and be walking.' And having seized him by the right hand, he raised him up, and presently his feet and ankles were strengthened, and springing up, he stood, and was walking, and did enter with them into the temple, walking and springing, and praising God... Peter having seen, answered unto the people, 'Men, Israelites! why wonder ye at this? or on us why look ye so earnestly, as if by our own power or piety we have made him to walk? The God of Abraham, and of Isaac, and of Jacob, the God of our fathers, did glorify His child Jesus, whom ye delivered up, and denied him in the presence of Pilate, he having given judgment to release him, and ye the Holy and Righteous One did deny, and desired a man -- a murderer -- to be granted to you, and the Prince of the life ye did kill, whom God did raise out of the dead, of which we are witnesses; and on the faith of His Name, this one whom ye see and have known, His Name made strong, even the faith that is through Him did give to him this perfect soundness before you all.

The Name of God in the Holy Scriptures: Prophet Ezekiel
And they went in among the nations, among which they went, and they profaned my holy Name, while it was said of them, These are the people of the Lord, and they came forth out of his land. But I spared them for the sake of my holy Name, which the house of Israel profaned among the nations, among whom they went. Therefore say to the house of Israel, Thus saith the Lord; I do not this, O house of Israel, for your sakes, but because of my holy Name, which ye have profaned among the nations, among whom ye went. And I will sanctify my great Name, which was profaned among the nations, which ye profaned in the midst of them; and the nations shall know that I am the Lord, when I am sanctified among you before their eyes.

Behold, the Name of the Lord cometh from far, burning with His anger, and the burden thereof is heavy, His lips are full of indignation, and His tongue as a devouring fire.

The Name of God in the Holy Scriptures: Prophet Malachias
For from the rising of the sun even to the going down thereof my Name has been glorified among the Gentiles; and in every place incense is offered to my Name, and a pure offering: for my Name is great among the Gentiles, saith the Lord Almighty.

The Name of God in the Holy Scriptures: Prophecy of Michaeas
And thou, Bethlehem, House of Ephratha, art few in number to be reckoned among the thousands of Judah; yet out of thee shall one come forth to me, to be a Ruler of Israel; and His goings forth were from the beginning, even from eternity. Therefore shall he appoint them to wait till the time of her that travails. She shall bring forth, and then the remnant of their brethren shall return to the children of Israel. And the Lord shall stand, and see, and feed His flock with power, and they shall dwell in the glory of the Name of the Lord their God: for now shall they be magnified to the ends of the earth.

The Name of God in the Holy Scriptures: Song of Three Children
Blessed art Thou, O Lord God of our fathers, and praised and glorified is Thy Name unto the ages. For Thou art righteous in all the things that Thou hast done to us; yea, true are all Thy works, thy ways are right, and all Thy judgments truth. In all the things that Thou hast brought upon us, and upon the holy city of our fathers, even Jerusalem, Thou hast executed true judgement. For according to truth and judgement didst Thou bring all these things upon us because of our sins. For we have sinned and committed iniquity, departing from Thee. In all things have we trespassed, and not obeyed Thy commandments, nor kept them, neither done as thou hast commanded us, that it might go well with us. Wherefore all that Thou hast brought upon us, and every thing that Thou hast done to us, Thou hast done in true judgement. And Thou didst deliver us into the hands of lawless enemies, most hateful forsakers of God, and to an unjust king, and the most wicked in all the world. And now we cannot open our mouths, we are become a shame and reproach to thy servants; and to them that worship Thee. Yet deliver us not up wholly, for Thy Name’s sake, neither disannul thou Thy covenant. And cause not Thy mercy to depart from us, for Thy beloved Abraham’s sake, for Thy servant Isaac’s sake, and for Thy holy Israel’s sake; To whom Thou hast spoken and promised, that Thou wouldest multiply their seed as the stars of heaven, and as the sand that lieth upon the seashore. For we, O Lord, are become less than any nation, and be kept under this day in all the world because of our sins. Neither is there at this time prince, or prophet, or leader, or burnt offering, or sacrifice, or oblation, or incense, or place to sacrifice before Thee, and to find mercy. Nevertheless in a contrite heart and an humble spirit let us be accepted. Like as in the burnt offerings of rams and bullocks, and like as in ten thousands of fat lambs. So let our sacrifice be in Thy sight this day, and grant that we may wholly go after Thee. For they shall not be confounded that put their trust in Thee. And now we follow Thee with all our heart, we fear Thee, and seek Thy face. Put us not to shame: but deal with us after thy lovingkindness, and according to the multitude of Thy mercies. Deliver us also according to Thy marvellous works, and give glory to Thy Name, O Lord. And let all them that do Thy servants hurt be ashamed; And let them be confounded in all their power and might, and let their strength be broken; And let them know that Thou art God, the only God, and glorious over the whole world. And the king’s servants, that put them in, ceased not to make the oven hot with rosin, pitch, tow, and small wood; So that the flame streamed forth above the furnace forty and nine cubits. And it passed through, and burned those Chaldeans it found about the furnace. But the Angel of the Lord came down into the oven together with Azarias and his fellows, and smote the flame of the fire out of the oven; And made the midst of the furnace as it had been a moist whistling wind, so that the fire touched them not at all, neither hurt nor troubled them. Then the three, as out of one mouth, praised, glorified, and blessed, God in the furnace, saying, Blessed art Thou, O Lord God of our fathers: and to be praised and exalted above all for ever. And blessed is Thy glorious and holy Name, and to be praised and exalted above all for ever. Blessed art Thou in the temple of Thine holy glory, and to be praised and glorified above all for ever. Blessed art Thou that beholdest the depths, and sittest upon the cherubims, and to be praised and exalted above all for ever. Blessed art Thou on the glorious throne of thy kingdom, and to be praised and glorified above all for ever. Blessed art Thou in the firmament of heaven, and above all to be praised and glorified for ever.

The Name of God in the Holy Scriptures: Prayer of King Solomon
And the king turned his face, and the king blessed all Israel, (and the whole assembly of Israel stood:) and he said, Blessed be the Lord God of Israel today, who spoke by his mouth concerning David my father, and has fulfilled it with his hands, saying, From the day that I brought out my people Israel out of Egypt, I have not chosen a city in any one tribe of Israel to build a house, so that my Name should be there: but I chose Jerusalem that my Name should be there, and I chose David to be over my people Israel. And it was in the heart of my father to build a house to the Name of the Lord God of Israel. And the Lord said to David my father, Forasmuch as it came into thine heart to build a house to my Name, thou didst well that it came upon thine heart. Nevertheless thou shalt not build the house, but thy son that has proceeded out of thy bowels, he shall build the house to my Name. And the Lord has confirmed the word that he spoke, and I am risen up in the place of my father David, and I have sat down on the throne of Israel, as the Lord spoke, and I have built the house to the Name of the Lord God of Israel. And I have set there a place for the ark, in which is the covenant of the Lord, which the Lord made with our fathers, when he brought them out of the land of Egypt.
3 Kings, 8:12-30
But will God indeed dwell with men upon the earth? if the heaven and heaven of heavens will not suffice thee, how much less even this house which I have built to thy Name? Yet, O Lord God of Israel, thou shalt look upon my petition, to hear the prayer which thy servant prays to thee in thy presence this day, that thine eyes may be open toward this house day and night, even toward the place which thou saidst, My Name shall be there, to hear the prayer which thy servant prays at this place day and night. And thou shalt hearken to the prayer of thy servant, and of thy people Israel, which they shall pray toward this place; and thou shalt hear in thy dwelling-place in heaven, and thou shalt do and be gracious.

The Name of God in the Holy Scriptures: Prayer of Manasses, King of Judah.
O Lord, Almighty God of our fathers, Abraham, Isaac, and Jacob, and of their righteous seed; Who hast made heaven and earth, with all the ornament thereof; Who hast bound the sea by the word of thy commandment; Who hast shut up the deep, and sealed it by thy terrible and glorious Name; Whom all men fear, and tremble before thy power; for the majesty of thy glory cannot be borne, and Thine angry threatening toward sinners is importable: but thy merciful promise is unmeasurable and unsearchable; for Thou art the most high Lord, of great compassion, longsuffering, very merciful, and repentest of the evils of men. Thou, O Lord, according to thy great goodness hast promised repentance and forgiveness to them that have sinned against thee: and of Thine infinite mercies hast appointed repentance unto sinners, that they may be saved. Thou therefore, O Lord, that art the God of the just, hast not appointed repentance to the just, as to Abraham, and Isaac, and Jacob, which have not sinned against thee; but Thou hast appointed repentance unto me that am a sinner: for I have sinned above the number of the sands of the sea. My transgressions, O Lord, are multiplied: my transgressions are multiplied, and I am not worthy to behold and see the height of heaven for the multitude of mine iniquities. I am bowed down with many iron bands, that I cannot life up mine head, neither have any release: for I have provoked thy wrath, and done evil before thee: I did not thy will, neither kept I thy commandments: I have set up abominations, and have multiplied offences. Now therefore I bow the knee of mine heart, beseeching thee of grace. I have sinned, O Lord, I have sinned, and I acknowledge mine iniquities: wherefore, I humbly beseech thee, forgive me, O Lord, forgive me, and destroy me not with mine iniquites. Be not angry with me for ever, by reserving evil for me; neither condemn me to the lower parts of the earth. For Thou art the God, even the God of them that repent; and in me Thou wilt shew all thy goodness: for Thou wilt save me, that am unworthy, according to thy great mercy. Therefore I will praise thee for ever all the days of my life: for all the powers of the heavens do praise thee, and Thine is the glory for ever and ever. Amen.
